Made it up to Oregon Inlet Campground and set up the trailer in 30 mph winds which is always just a fun thing to do and then took a ride over the Bodie Island lighthouse to find it covered in beautiful orange construction fencing which just always makes everything so photogenic. ![]() Excellent little local place and was well worth the stop. Stopped at a restaurant called Pop's raw bar. Left the area around 3pm or so and headed north. Went up to the Hatteras Lighthouse and climbed it and spent some time in that area. caught the Hatteras Ferry around 10 am and was greeted by 40 mph winds and 5 foot waves, but the sun was sort of peeking out so I wasnt complaining too much. Morning 3- packed up and left teeters to head up the Islands. Went and did a few indoor things like the blackbeard exhibit and the preservation museum and some stores but not at all what I had come to do which was outdoor stuff and some photography. Took the car this time since i learned my bike riding lesson the day before. Was pretty much completely soaked after riding back in the rain and going thru 4 inch deep puddles. Finally just gave up, put on my rain jacket and pedaled back in the rain. Sat on the porch for at least an hour before it even slacked off a bit. Biked over to Howards Pub and when i came out, it was a major downpour. So after setting up i decided to take a bike ride around the island. The owner was a really nice guy and you cant beat the price). Just a side note, would definitely recommend staying here again. Went over to Teeters Campground and set up. ![]() Made it over to Ocracoke and the rain had stopped for awhile but still no sun, (of course). However even with the wind, it didnt really keep the Teradactyl sized mosquitos away. Woke up around 7 am and looked outside to find beautiful GRAY skies and windy conditions. Rain and gusty wind for most of the night. Parked in the driveway to the ferry and popped open the camper and slept there for my 10 am ferry ride the next day. Got down to swan quarter around 5pm after driving thru on and off rain for the last 300 miles. Left knoxville on wednesday morning to bright clear and sunny skies. So let me tell you about my wasted vacation.
